Dr. Michael Craig is a Knoxville native who came back to practice medicine in his hometown. A graduate of Bearden High School, Dr. Craig obtained his bachelor’s degree with honors of summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. He then pursued his interest in rehabilitation by attending the Ohio State University College of Medicine. Following medical school, Dr. Craig completed residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed additional subspecialty training in spinal cord injury and spine medicine during a fellowship at the Spain Rehabilitation Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

As a physiatrist, Dr. Craig focuses on minimally-invasive and non-surgical treatment of patients with musculoskeletal and neurologic disorders of the spine, pelvis, and upper extremity. He uses ultrasound, laser, and fluoroscopic guidance to perform multiple procedures at Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic and Knoxville Orthopaedic Surgery Center. Dr. Craig has a special interest in the use of radiofrequency neurotomy and thermal nerve ablation utilizing fluoroscopic laser guidance for the treatment of chronic spinal pain. He also performs electrodiagnostic evaluation including electromyography and nerve conduction studies in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral nerve and spinal nerve disorders.
Dr. Craig, his wife, two daughters and son are active members in their church. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, gardening, woodworking, and scouting with his children.
