While in medical school, he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, which is awarded based on academics, leadership, community service, research and professionalism. Dr. Cooper is an avid researcher and has received numerous awards for his research on wrist fractures.

He and his wife, Abby, moved back to East Tennessee after the completion of his medical training to rejoin their family, friends and community. Outside of work, they enjoy running, cycling, hiking and cheering on the University of Tennessee’s football, basketball and baseball teams.
