What to Expect
Day of Surgery
Important rules keep you safe and help avoid delays on surgery day. Review and follow the checklist and contact us at 865-244-4580 if you have any questions.
Checklist
- Do not eat, drink, chew gum or use tobacco after midnight the night before your surgery unless instructed otherwise by the preadmission nurse.
- Arrive at the time given to you during your pre-op phone call.
- Call KOSC at 865-244-4580 if you have cold, flu or other symptoms of illness prior to and on your surgery day.
- Shower or bathe before surgery.
- Do not wear contacts or makeup.
- Remove and secure all jewelry and piercings.
- Bring a container to secure dentures and/or hearing aids during surgery.
- Wear comfortable clothes such as relaxed fit, elastic waistband shorts or pants, T-shirts and tennis shoes.
- Have a responsible adult present to drive you home. That person must remain onsite at all times on surgery day.
- Bring medical equipment needed for after surgery, such as crutches, slings or rolling walker.
- Bring your photo identification and insurance card for registration.
