What to Expect
After Surgery
Now it’s time to heal. Follow these instructions for at-home care after your surgery. If you have additional questions, feel free to call our office at 865-244-4580.
Checklist
  • If you think you need emergency help or are experiencing shortness of breath after your surgery, go to the nearest emergency room or dial 9-1-1.
  • A nurse will review and provide you and the responsible adult with a copy of your post-operation instructions.
  • Follow all discharge instructions, including for wound care, provided by your surgeon.
  • Take pain medications as prescribed.
  • Do not drink alcohol or drive while taking pain medication.
  • Call 865-558-4400 if you have a fever of 101 degrees or higher, excessive bleeding or swelling or uncontrolled pain or nausea.
  • Have someone with you for the first 24 hours after surgery.
